As the Founder and Creative Director of Inkylayla, I lead and operate all aspects of the business as a queer-owned independent art practice dedicated to producing original artwork drawn from life.
Inkylayla specialises in live portraiture, live illustration at events, market stall operations, life drawing classes, and drawing education. I established the business independently and manage both the creative and operational direction.
My responsibilities include:
-
Creating live portraits and original figurative artwork
-
Providing live illustration services at public and private events
-
Planning and operating market stalls
-
Designing and facilitating life drawing classes
-
Teaching drawing techniques and mentoring students
-
Managing bookings, client relationships, and partnerships
-
Overseeing marketing, branding, and social media
-
Handling financial management, budgeting, and administration
-
Sourcing materials and maintaining ethical business practices
As a sole operator, I am responsible for strategic decision-making, creative vision, and day-to-day execution. This hands-on leadership ensures that Inkylayla remains authentic, community-focused, and aligned with its values as a queer-owned creative business.
